New Library Director
The Oxford Public Library and the library board are proud to introduce Kay Gehring as the new director of Oxford Public Library.
Kay has been a member of the Oxford community for many years. She just retired after 24 years of teaching in the Oxford school system. Originally, Kay was a FACS teacher and later became a paraprofessional with the gifted program. Most recently she has been the Oxford Elementary special education teacher. She is also a mother, grandmother, and a published children’s book author. Her husband of 37 years is Lowell Gehring.
When asked about her goals as director of our local library, Kay said, “One of my goals is to expand the programming at the library. I hope to reach as many people as possible with a variety of programs that meet the community’s needs and expand the love of reading and knowledge.” She is looking forward to her new position.
Kay is getting the opportunity to jump right into programming with summer reading. Registration for the summer reading program begins May 23 and will run through June and July. Contact the library (620-455-2221) for more information.
Her first official day is Monday, May 23. Come by the library to wish her well!
